Comply with applicable Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental laws, rules and codes and regulatory requirements.
Maintain OHSE management systems at each NPP.
Provide adequate engineered features in design of NPPs for nuclear, radiation, environmental and occupational health safety aspects.
Prevent injuries, accidents and pollution through adequate defence- in- depth approach in design, construction, commissioning and operation of NPPs.
Institutionalize effective process of hazard identification, analysis and risk assessment and implement the best of preventive & control measures.
Review of relevant National and International experience feed backs on occupational health, safety and environmental aspects and implement preventive actions.
Carry out inter-disciplinary analysis / review of all safety aspects and take corrective actions and maintain effective communications.
Protect site personnel, the population and the environment from undue radiation exposures beyond specified limits following ALARA principle.
Ensure emergency preparedness through periodical exercises.
Reduce generation of wastes and dispose inevitable wastes in environmentally acceptable manner within the applicable regulatory limits.
Conserve key resources /raw material viz water, oil and energy by optimizing their use.
Orient and impart appropriate training to all employees including contractor workers, public and state officials in the vicinity to NPPs.
Reinforce use of OHSE management practices and adherence to safety requirements & procedures among all employees and contractors.
